The ESS Team has just reported that they have just cooled down the ESS accelerator to 4 Kelvin.
The cool-down sequence started on Tuesday morning.
This morning they reached 4K in all the modules and will continue filling the cavity tanks with liquid helium, as planned.
This is a big step forward the operation of the ESS Linac.
It is also the reward for the work of so many people who have contributed to this project at ESS and in all the In-Kind Institutes.
