Activities for Schools

Since 2005 LASA is involved in the dissemination and promotion of scientific disciplines, mainly Physics, as a participant to the "Progetto Lauree Scientifiche" (PLS, Scientific Degree Project) sponsored by the Ministry of University and Research (MIUR) with additional funding by INFN projects . The activity is targeting especially High Schools students, with the aim of bringing them closer to the typical themes of the scientific disciplines through a "learn by experimenting" approach.

The project is focused on the theme of radioactivity, and particularly on natural radioactivity, through the involvement of students in Radon-222 gas concentration measurements in schools, residential and public areas, a high topical issue, particularly suitable for the educational purpose.

A variety of seminars are offered to high schools in order to give an opportunity to students to get familiar with topical research areas in the physics domain. We also organize a range of initiatives (conferences, exhibitions and meetings) in coordination with the local municipalities of the Lombardy region for public adult outreach on radioactivity and its effects on life and human health.

In the years 2005/2006 LASA hosted short stages for students.
